A London delftware Adam and Eve charger, circa 1700-20

The Temptation painted in blue, green and yellow, the couple flanking the fruiting Tree of Knowledge, Adam's modesty preserved by a low branch and Eve's by her long hair, sponged trees and a green tufted ground around them, within concentric yellow and blue lines and a blue dash border, 34cm diam

Footnotes

A very similar charger is attributed to Norfolk House, London, see Michael Archer, Delftware in the Fitzwilliam Museum (2013), A.32. In both examples the figures appear to sport hairstyles resembling contemporary periwigs, an amusing feature of some late 17th and early 18th century Adam and Eve chargers.
