A set of four Italian straw work biblical pictures apparently depicting scenes from 'The Return of Prodigal Son'

Probably late 17th/early 18th century
The panels apparently later mounted out of order, the first depicting a youthful figure in armour meeting a bearded gentleman outside a citadel, the ink inscription to the reverse reading Con tem..avoir? Prodigo Figlio..bar la parte chieda quella ..este il buen, Dove a lui concerto' l'asssense f'infelice in lungo.. the second depicting a banqueting scene with courtly lords and ladies, a band of musicians to the right hand side, the ink inscription to the rear now largely indistinct Del lussoin preda e de i carnival..? allenta il Freno..,the third depicting a rustic looking gentleman with mournful expression, a boar to his left, before a rustic outbuilding, with ink inscription to the rear Spinto da dura fame il..gli animali immondi quanti cice .chi pare abbondi Servici del Inico buon Padre the fourth depicting the rustic gentleman at the knees of the same bearded gentleman in the first panel, the ink inscription to the rear now largely indistinct, all inset within a modern gilt wood and glazed frame, 103.3cm high, 28.3cm wide overall overall including frame
