According to Pleyel's archives, the piano was made in 1912 for Madame Egraz of Aix-les-Bains. In the records it states the bronzes are in the Louis XVI transitional style.
The ormolu mounts were probably supplied by Jean-Henri Jansen who took over the business of Emmanuel Zwiener in 1895 after he had returned to his native Germany. Jansen acquired Zwiener's master models and renamed the business 'Zwiener Jansen Successeur', continuing to produce his creations.
The same model of piano made by Pleyel and A. Gaurier (with serial numbers F/62044 and 113283) was sold by Christie's, New York, 19th Century Furniture and Works of Art, 24 April 2003, lot 283.
The item has been registered in accordance with the Ivory Act (Section 10). Ref 1MPZKYV6
