ARISTIDE MAILLOL (1861-1944)
signed with the artist's monogram and numbered '1/6' (on top of the base); inscribed with the foundry mark 'Alexis Rudier. Fondeur. Paris.' (on the right side of the base)
bronze with black patina
17 x 24cm (6 11/16 x 9 7/16in).
Conceived in 1912, this bronze version cast by the Alexis Rudier foundry during the artist's lifetime in a numbered edition of 6 plus two artist's proofs.

The authenticity of this work has been confirmed by Olivier Lorquin. This work will be included in the forthcoming Aristide Maillol catalogue raisonné of sculptures, currently being prepared.
