Footnotes

Property of a private collector.

The marks on the present example would place it amongst a group of coffee pots which also are marked with the currently unidentified oblong punch. These appear in Bologna, Alaine Apap, The Silver of Malta, Lifa, Malta: MAG Publications, 1995, pages 78-84 as examples reference 165, 169, 178 and 191. Example 169 also bears the four-pellet mint mark, as the present example. The pots described here also stylistically share similarities with the present example. Examples 165 and 169 also lack makers marks.
