Two German Renaissance silver-gilt cups and covers

both David Cramer (Kramer), Augsburg, circa 1575 - 1595, one cover apparently unmarked
Each with a cylindrical cup embossed and chased with stylised tracery one with fruits and the other with eagles, the pull off domed covers with cast warrior finials, both holding a spear and shield, later inscribed 'CRAINBURG' above an eagle, this engraving repeated to the underside of the cover, both on knopped stemmed pedestal bases with tripartite S scroll supports, height 26.5cm, weight total 34oz.

David Cramer (Kramer) (master 1576, died 1596)

The engraving of Crainburg is in reference to the Slovenian city now known as Kranj, the eagle below is the arms of the City.
