A Louis XVI ormolu mounted japanned, ebony and parcel gilt commode

Circa 1775, but probably japanned or re-japanned in the 19th century, stamped: 'J.F. LELEU'
Decorated with pagodas, assorted Far Eastern figures including fishermen, trees, a foot bridge and a fishing boat within a riverside landscape, the front of gently bowed form, with four projecting angles, the breche d'alep marble top with a moulded edge, above one long frieze drawer flanked by four rosette mounted angles, over two deep oak lined drawers flanked by four fluted angles, on fluted tapering legs terminating in brass turned sabots, the top stamped: 'J.F. LELEU', 92.5cm wide x 50cm deep x 88cm high, (36in wide x 19 1/2in deep x 34 1/2in high)
