A pair of George III giltwood open armchairs

Circa 1775, in the French taste
Each with channelled frames and a curved cartouche shaped back, with scrolled and downswept arms, above a shaped seat frame, on cabriole legs, each front leg headed by a fluted lambrequin shaped motif, terminating in foliate carved scroll feet, re-gilt, the rails with evidence of old screw holes but has since been re-applied with a dark wash, 73cm wide x 62cm deep x 90cm high, (28 1/2in wide x 24in deep x 35in high) (2)
