The armorial is for William WENTWORTH-FITZWILLIAM (1748-1833) 4th Earl Fitzwilliam of Wentworth Woodhouse, Yorkshire and his wife Lady Charlotte PONSONBY (died 1822) second daughter of William PONSONBY (1704-1793) 2nd Earl of Bessborough by Lady Caroline CAVENDISH (died 1760) daughter of the 3rd Duke of Devonshire. They were married in 1770, it is likely these plates were a marriage piece and then used later at Wentworth Woodhouse.
William WENTWORTH-FITZWILLIAM (1748-1833) 4th Earl Fitzwilliam was the son and heir of William WENTWORTH-FITZWILLIAM (1720-1756) 3rd Earl Fitzwilliam by Lady Anne WATSON-WENTWORTH (-1769) co-heir of the 2nd Marquess of Rockingham.
