The first with velum leaf decorated to the obverse with a central shaped compartmented cartouche depicting an angel preventing Isaac from killing his son, flanked by classical ruins, within two further canted rectangular portrait cartouches, depicting a female figure and a turbaned male on folded ermine and feather backgrounds, the blue ground with garden flowers and fruit, the reverse with Old Testament figural landscape scene, the sticks carved pierced and gilded with figures, and acanthus and rocaille scrolls, with red paste in set rivet, the second with velum leaf painted to the obverse with a classical scene, probably depicting Mars, Aphrodite, Juno and Athena, within a pastoral landscape, the reverse with the young Cupid, the sticks carved and gilded with figures and cartouche and flowers, the guard sticks similarly decorated with red paste inset rivet, the third with velum leaf decorated to the obverse with a classical scene depicting The Rape of the Sabine Women, the reverse with a classical male and female, within an olive grove, the sticks carved with figures, putti and cloud-like scrolls, the sticks similarly carved and pierced, the last with velum leaf painted to the obverse with a biblical scene of Judith approaching the army of Holofernes, within an exotic landscape, the reverse with a female figure of Justice, the carved and pierced sticks with classical figures within a cartouche, acanthus c scroll, rocaille and ho-ho birds, the guard sticks similarly decorated, Please note the for the second the sticks are matched/made up the first 25cm high, 46cm wide approximately, the second 29cm x 52cm, the third 25cm x 46cm, the fourth 30cm x 50cm (4)
