The first with carved and pierced and gilded sticks, the velum leaf decorated with an asymmetric cartouche depicting a shepherd and shepherdess with onlooking cattle and sheep and a river landscape to one side, within foliate scrolling borders, the reverse with a scene of figures pulling a carriage within a rustic landscape, the sticks with musical putti and corresponding trophies within scroll work, the guard sticks similarly decorated, on a pierced red foiled ground with red paste rivet, the second with painted velum leaf depicting a rustic figural group including a fisherman before farm buildings within a river landscape, flanked by flowers, the reverse with floral sprays and borders, the carved and pierced sticks with scrolling cartouches, further painted with fruit, birds, squirrels and musical trophies, birds, and butterflies, the third with velum leaf decorated to the obverse with an elaborate contemporary figural scene of a lady seated in a carriage pulled by two poodles with attendant figure, a group feasting around a table, a dancing couple all within a rustic landscape within pendant borders, the reserve with a classical couple and putto, within similar border, the plain sticks painted with a hunting group and a lady, the reverse with a boar and hounds, the guard sticks similarly painted, the fourth with painted velum leaf decorated to the obverse with a classical group of Apollo and Daphne flanked by putti and a pair of onlooking warriors, beside s dolphin fountain, within elaborate scrolling cartouche border, with military trophies, the reverse with similar plain formalised borders the sticks carved and pierced with figural and bird cartouches and inscribed APOLON ET DAPHEN (sic) the guard sticks similarly with figures and scrolls and shells with paste rivet, the last with painted vellum leaf painted to the obverse with a a couple by a sundial and a girl holding a birdcage within a rustic landscape, the reverse with a figural rustic scene, the sticks carved and pierced with figures and foliage, with paste rivet (as found). the first 27cm high, 47cm wide, the second 27cm x 47cm, the third 29cm x 50cm, the fourth 25cm x 42cm, the fifth 27cm x 42cm (5)
