A collection of five Chinese export folding fans

Late 18th/early 19th century and later
Comprising a Canton tortoiseshell fan, the paper leaf decorated to the obverse with an elaborate scene of figures within Pagoda terraces, below a floral border, the figures with inset ivory faces, the reverse with exotic white long-tailed pheasant amidst flowers within floral borders, the sticks finely carved and pierced with flowering foliage, the guard sticks with figural landscapes on a closed ground, a Macau gilt filigree and enamel fan, the obverse with similar figural terraced landscape decoration, the faces in ivory, within gilt floral borders, the reverse with floral bird landscapes, within red foliate borders, the sticks with blue and green enamel flowers, the guard sticks cast with figural landscapes, a gilt and black lacquered fan, the paper lead decorated with a European classical scene of Achilles disguised, the reverse plain, the sticks, with elaborate scrolling dragons, together with two further later fans, the first with bamboo sticks, the paper leaf painted with a well detailed figural landscape, signed to the top, the reverse with pagoda landscapes and junks, the second with bamboo sticks, the observe with stylised floral decoration and character mark, the reverse plain on a black ground, with avenutrine quartz rivet the first 26cm high, 44cm wide, the second 21cm x 38cm, the third 26cm x 44cm, the fourth 30cm x 52cm, the fifth 25cm x 48cm (5)
