Aside from its stand, a closely related cabinet incorporating very similar marquetry, along with a comparable configuration of 'seaweed' inlaid tablets as well as a similar shaping of these reserves, is illustrated in A. Bowett, English Furniture, 1660-1714, 2002, Woodbridge, pl. 7:12, p. 201. This princeswood example, which also features oyster veneered sections, is dated therein by the author to the period 1690-1710 and forms part of the furnishings at Fairfax House, York.
Another comparable William and Mary cabinet on stand with closely related 'arabesque' marquetry reserves appears in P. Macquoid, A History of English Furniture, The Age of Walnut, 1989, London, fig. 334, p. 153. At the time of publication this was with Messrs J. Mallett and Sons.
