A fine mid 18th century French boulle striking bracket clock
Delisle A Paris
The case surmounted by four cast brass finials above a cast architectural balustrade over a gilt-brass moulded top, applied with ormolu mounts to the sides and brass banding, supported by four cast female mask mounts. The front centred by an observation window framed with a mask above a decorated base, the sides with applied observation windows, all raised on four finely chased feet. The back door decorated with fine boulle inlay and engraved detailing. The 9-inch brass dial with Roman numerals and blued steel hands, cast detailing to the centre framed by a cast bezel. The movement with five turned pillars and later anchor escapement, striking the hours on an external count wheel with individually engraved numbers, signed to the backplate in flowing script Delisle, A Paris. Later fitted with a pendulum lock. Currently ticking and striking.
