A mid 19th century mahogany striking bracket clock
J Jonas, Teignmouth
The case surmounted by a turned urn finial above a pagoda top with carved decoration, the front with brass banding and an applied carved panel, the sides fitted with brass carrying handles and fish-scale sound frets backed in red silk, terminating in an ogee base and raised on four brass ball feet. The 8-inch round painted dial with Roman numerals, signed to the centre J Jonas, Teignmouth, and fitted with blued steel hands. The interior of the case retains the original maker's label. The double fusee movement with anchor escapement, backplate with simple engraving, striking on a polished bell. Ticking and striking. 55cms (22ins) high.
