A late 19th century French tortoiseshell Veneered bracket clock
Balthazar Martinot
The case surmounted by a gilt urn finial over a tortoiseshell veneered body decorated with gilt and chased ormolu mounts, the sides with glazed observation windows and the front door with a large central mount, the rear, the clock sitting on four elaborate feet. The 7 inch dial with white enamel cartouches for Roman numerals, an applied name plaque to the base, and blued steel hands. The twin barrel movement with square plates and rack striking on a vertically mounted bell.
