A impressive late 19th century French cast ormolu striking mantle clock
J Baptiste Baillon
The Louis XV style case surmounted by a finely cast winged dragon above cast foliate decoration and scrolling mounts, the sides with inset sound frets and the front adorned with a musical trophy, all descending to a scrolling base and resting on a matching cast ormolu plinth. The 7-inch white enamel dial with blue Roman numerals and black Arabic five-minute markers, signed J Baptiste Baillon, Paris, fitted with gilt pierced and engraved hands. The substantial movement with rectangular plates, striking on a bell mounted to the backplate. 55cms (22ins) high.
