戰國 銅蟠螭紋水匜
The vessel features an elegant form: its spout is shaped like a beast's head, with a broad opening for easy pouring. The body is slightly oval, supported by four legs below, creating a stable and aesthetically pleasing silhouette. The surface is predominantly adorned with coiled chilong motifs, symbolizing sacred power and aristocratic dignity. These intricate designs depict serpentine dragons winding and intertwining across the vessel, creating a visually dynamic and layered effect. In ancient times, the yi was primarily used in ritual hand-washing ceremonies. It served as an essential utensil for nobles to purify their hands during sacrifices, banquets, or daily rituals, typically paired with a basin: water poured from the yi into the basin, symbolizing purity and reverence.
此水匜整體以青銅鑄造，器形典雅，以獸首為口，其流口寬廣，方便傾注水流，腹身略呈橢圓，下接四足，穩重而富有線條美感。器表以蟠螭紋為主要裝飾紋樣，象徵神聖力量與貴族威儀。這些蟠螭紋刻劃細膩，龍身蜿蜒、互相纏繞，佈滿器身，營造出層次豐富、動感十足的視覺效果。水匜在古代主要用於沃盥之禮，是貴族在祭祀、宴饗或日常禮儀中淨手所用的重要器物，通常與盤配套使用：以匜倒水，以盤承接，象徵潔淨與敬意。
