The present lot serves as a decorative base or supporting component for the ancient weapon known as ge. Cast in bronze, its surface features exquisite gold and silver inlay work, with gold and silver filigree forming vivid, flowing auspicious beast motifs. The intricate and densely patterned designs, combined with their vigorous and dynamic forms, exude a profound sense of mystery and ornamental appeal.

The ge served as a vital long-handled combat weapon from the pre-Qin period through the Han dynasty. Its decorative components such as the shaft cap, pommel, and base, were commonly cast in bronze and adorned with gold-silver inlay, gilding, or inlay techniques. These elements functioned not only as practical components but also as symbols of status and aesthetic taste. This fitting inlaid with gold and silver, adorned with auspicious beast motifs, exemplifies exquisite craftsmanship and magnificent ornamentation. It not only demonstrates the pinnacle of metalworking achievements from the Warring States period to the Western Han dynasty but also reflects the distinctive characteristics of weapon decoration and ceremonial weapon culture during that era.
