In the ethereal domain of haute horlogerie, the Breguet Reine de Naples Ref. 8909BB/VD/J29 DDD0 shimmers as a 2010s high-jewelry opus renowned for its stunning dial and diamond-setting. Born from the 1810 timepiece gifted to Caroline Murat, Queen of Naples, this timepiece has been one of the staples of luxury from the watchmaker for centuries. Forged in 18k white gold, the 30.5 x 38.5mm ovoid case, the timepiece blooms with 97 baguette-cut diamonds or 7.10 carats on bezel and flanks, crowned by a gem-set crown. The blue mother-of-pearl dial, guilloché-embellished, orbits an off-center silvered gold chapter at 6 o'clock, its heart a constellation of 67 brilliant-cut diamonds; moon phase dances at 2, power reserve arcs at 10—all swept by blued Breguet hands beneath sapphire. The automatic Caliber 537 DRL2 hums within: 26 jewels, silicon balance spring, 3.5Hz beat, 45-hour reserve—a 269-part sonnet viewable through the sapphire case back. Given its limited production, the reference 8909 offers tremendous value at auction, and will be sure to enthrall any collector looking for a timeless and luxurious classic from the famed maison.
