This work is accompanied by a copy of the Pool Party auction catalogue and original documentation from Utopia Art Sydney which reads:
'This painting takes as its subject leaves that have fallen to the ground and have been energised by the wind. These leaves are related to Gloria's country.
They have use in medicine and a cultural role in the Utopia community.
The other design depicted in this painting is "Awelye". Awelye has a specific meaning that describes the body paint that is applied for ceremony. It more importantly describes the whole concept of "womens business". Thus, these simple lines are like the painted marks but they embody much more.'
