There is a distressed label attached to the Malangi verso which reads: 'This painting portrays a secular incident; a friend of the painter's was carrying a pandannis palm food basket, and on kneeling down to the bush was badly bitten by a snake.
Shown are yam vines, bush fruit tree, and the dotted line ovals are caterpillars.
Cross-hatching at the bottom of painting represent the ground.'
