An Imperial blue-ground kesi 'bat and shou' informal robe, chenyi

Guangxu period
attributed to the wardrobe of the Empress Dowager Cixi, the decorative motif worked in two shades of gold threads, extending to under the outer flap, the same design repeated at the collar and cuffs against dark indigo and ivory ground, separated from the main dress by a band of appliqué embroidered with butterflies, 144.0cm long, 132.0cm wide
