Recognised as one of Lebanon's foremost modern sculptors, Chaouki Choukini is celebrated for his mastery of wood and his ability to merge abstraction with poetic humanism. In Equation Existentielle, executed in 2018, Choukini continues his lifelong exploration of the human form and its spiritual essence through a language of geometric purity and tactile materiality.
The sculpture rises with an architectural grace, its interlocking planes and voids suggesting both strength and vulnerability. Choukini's signature carving technique, which reveals subtle textures and delicate traces of the artist's hand, gives the work a meditative presence.
Balancing modernist abstraction with an underlying sense of humanity, Equation Existentielle reflects Choukini's belief that sculpture is not only a formal exercise but also a philosophical inquiry into existence itself.
