A Sèvres plate, circa 1763-64 or 1792

Footnotes

A service with similar decoration but slight differences in the gilding, dated 1762, was delivered to Louis XV at the château de Versailles; see David Peters, Sèvres Plates and Services, vol. II, 2005, revised edition 2015, pp. 349-350, no. 62-3. Peters notes that service wares of similar pattern dated 1763-64 relate to a 1792 service, which was probably a supplement to the earlier service (Peters, op cit., vol. IV, p. 981, no. 92-11). See lots 103 and 104 for further pieces with this type of decoration.
