A rare Meissen red-ground coffee urn, circa 1745

On three scroll feet, the pear-shaped body reserved with two shaped cartouches painted with elegant figures and buildings in a river landscape, and figures and buildings by a harbour, flanked by two C-scroll handles, both moulded with acanthus leaf finials picked out in gilding, the domed cover with similar scenes, mounted with a silver tap, likely later, 33.3cm, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue to the base over gilders mark 'O.' (finial and two legs restuck) (2)
