A Sèvres dish (compotier coquille), dated 1787

Painted with a central rose spray surrounded by a blue line heightened with gilt S scrolls, the rim with a border of flowers issuing from a blue ground band under a blue foliate scroll border, 23cm wide, interlaced LL monogram enclosing date letter kk in blue, painter's mark pG or pC, possibly for Jean-Joseph-Philippe Boucot (fils)

The dish was probably from the service delivered to Otto Blome, Envoy-Extraordinary of Denmark to France (1770-1796), on 13 May 1787. The service included four compotier coquille at a price of 27 livres each; see David Peters, Sèvres Plates and Services, vol. IV, 2005, revised edition 2015, pp. 827f, no. 87-4.
