Provenance:
Purchased from Adrian Sassoon, London, in 2007

A service with similar decoration but slight differences in the gilding, dated 1762, was delivered to Louis XV at the château de Versailles; see David Peters, Sèvres Plates and Services, vol. II, 2005, revised edition 2015, pp. 349-350, no. 62-3. Peters notes that service wares of similar pattern with date codes K and L relate to a later service (date 1792), which was probably a supplement to a 1763/64 service (Peters, op cit, vol. IV, p. 981, no. 92-11).
