The overhanging cornice set on an inlaid frieze and Doric columns, the long trunk door with boldly moulded ebonised edge framing the inlaid panels of flowers and foliage around the lenticle, the base similarly inlaid and set on a shallow apron. The 11 inch square brass dial with elaborate cherubs head spandrels and engraved foliage framing the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with engraved moonphase set above subsidiaries for the moon's age and another 1-12, ringed winding squares and further apertures for date, day of the week and planetary sign for the day, signed between VII and V, with blued steel hands. The movement with five knopped pillars (four latched, one pinned), the going train of five wheels and terminating in an anchor escapement to a brass-faced pendulum, the strike train acting on two bells and sounding the hour on a large bell, a single blow on a small bell at quarter-past, the coming hour on the small bell at half-past, a single blow on the large bell at quarter-to. Will tick and strike, sold with a pendulum and two (later) brass clad weights. 2.08m (6ft 10ins) high.
