A late 19th century French grande sonnerie carriage clock

The case surmounted by a Greek key–shaped carrying handle over a rectangular bevelled glass observation window and repeat button to a moulded top with architectural detailing, supported by four Corinthian-topped capitals framing the glazed observation windows to the sides and back, revealing the movement within, down to a moulded base and further raised on a brass plinth resting on four block feet. The 2.75 inch white enamel dial with black Roman numerals and Breguet-style blued steel hands. The twin train movement with a silvered lever platform escapement, striking the hours and quarters on a pair of blued steel gongs mounted to the backplate, with a three-option selector below for grande sonnerie. The backplate stamped ES and numbered 32266. Currently ticking and striking. 20.5cms (8ins) high.
