A late 19th century Swiss striking and repeating centre-seconds carriage clock made for the Chinese market

The case surmounted by a brass carrying handle over an oval observation window and repeat button, the moulded top decorated with flowing engraving, the sides similarly engraved and set with a pair of glazed observation windows, the solid back door engraved with floral motifs and a vacant cartouche, all terminating in a moulded base with further intricate engraving. The 3 inch white enamel Roman dial with centre seconds hand, Breguet style hands and Arabic alarm-setting subsidiary. The twin train movement with finely engraved and decorated Chinese-style lever platform escapement, striking the hours on a polished bell mounted to the backplate, the alarm train wound at the top left corner and sounding on the same bell. Currently ticking and striking. 19cms (7.5ins) high.
