A fine and rare early 20th century two-colour gold and hardstone mounted strut timepiece, with Rothschild family provenance

Attributed to Cartier, numbered 299.
The case framed with a yellow gold band engraved with flowing motifs on a deep blue hardstone ground, to a rose gold sight ring with matching engraved detail. The reverse with a gilt strut, numbered 299, together with a hand-setting dial and winder. The 1.75 inch circular silvered dial with Art Deco-style Roman numerals and engine-turned centre, with finely finished gold hands. The eight day movement powered by a single going barrel to a cut and compensated balance wheel and lever escapement. Currently ticking. 5.5cms (2.25ins) high.
