A fine late 19th century French silvered and gilt brass grande sonnerie repeating carriage clock

Surmounted by a turned handle over a rectangular bevelled observation window engraved with heraldic arms depicting a walking fox, the case with protruding pillars on a moulded plinth base and turned feet. The gilt Roman dial with blued steel hands within a frosted gilt mask, above a subsidiary Arabic alarm-setting dial. The signed and numbered spring barrel movement with lever platform escapement, striking the hours and quarters on a pair of blued steel gongs, controlled via a three-position lever to the underside marked Full Striking, Silent and Quarters, currently ticking. 18cms (7ins) high.
