Surmounted by a brass carrying handle over a large bevelled observation window to the moulded top, the sides and base finely engraved with foliate and floral decoration, the sides fitted with bevelled glass observation panels, and the back panel engraved with elaborate scrolling foliage and fitted with shuttered winding squares. The 3-inch white enamel dial with Roman numerals and gilt Breguet-style hands, with subsidiary Arabic alarm-setting dial below. The fine two-train movement with going train driven by a chain fusee with maintaining power; the strike train powered by a going barrel, terminating in a gilt platform with detent escapement to a cut and compensated balance in diamond endstones. Striking and repeating the hours and quarters on a pair of polished bells mounted to the backplate, the alarm sounding on the same bell. Currently ticking and striking, sold together with the original travel case and winding key. 18cms (7ins) high.
