A Late 19th century French Grande-sonnerie Striking Carriage with the Original Brass-bound Oak Case and numbered key

Drocourt No. 34633. Retailed by Robert Pleissner, Dresden
The case surmounted by a rippled brass carrying handle over a large bevelled glass observation window set into a moulded top, the plain sides fitted with glazed observation panels and terminating in a moulded base, the underside fitted with strike selection lever. The 2.75 inch white enamel Arabic dial with blued steel hands, signed to the centre Robert Pleissner, Dresden with subsidiary Arabic alarm-setting dial to the lower section. The fine twin-train movement with English-style lever platform escapement, the alarm train wound and set from the backplate and operating on one of the blued steel gongs mounted behind, the clock striking full grande sonnerie on two blued steel gongs fixed to the backplate. The movement numbered 34633 and stamped with the factory mark of Drocourt. Currently ticking and striking, and sold together with its original, very rare campaign-style brass-bound oak travelling case and numbered winding key. 19cms (7.5ins) high.
