The case with a large turned bezel, the lock to the left-hand side opening to reveal a substantial 16-inch painted wooden dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, signed to the centre William Dunant, London, and fitted with large counterbalanced painted brass hands. The sides with later-added sound frets and a door to the right-hand side opening to reveal the double fusee movement with verge escapement and short bob pendulum, the tapered plates united by five turned pillars. Currently ticking and striking on the bell mounted above. 58cms (23ins) high.
