The hexagonal case with moulded cornice and wheatear engraved border framing a solid silver champlevé dial with Roman hours and Arabic five-minute divisions framing the small calendar aperture at VI o'clock, with a central silvered alarm-setting disc and finely pierced and gilded brass hands. Six bevelled glass observation panels encircle the sides above a flared base, raised on three turned feet interspersed with three matching turned finials.
The underside fitted with an inverted bell secured to a bridge spanning the hinged base plate. The movement with hexagonal plates united by Egyptian-shaped pillars, the going train with chain fusee, and the strike train with engraved barrel. The pierced and engraved solid silver balance cock is mounted to a backplate further decorated with fine foliate engraving, signed Antoninus Schaller. The alarm train driven by a separate engraved going barrel. 7cms (3ins) high.
