The case surmounted by a finely engraved and shaped carrying handle over a large oval glazed observation window, all framed by further floral decoration to a moulded top. The sides and back with shaped bevelled glass observation windows, each framed with further foliate detailing, the moulded base similarly decorated with acanthus leaves. The 2.75in. white enamel dial with Roman numerals and Breguet-style blued steel hands, the lowest section with Roman and Arabic alarm-setting dial, all framed by a finely gilt and engraved mask. The two-train movement with English-style lever silvered platform escapement, striking the hours and half-hours on a finely polished bell mounted to the backplate, the alarm wound through the upper left corner and sounding on the same bell. Currently ticking and striking, and sold together with its original shaped leather travelling case. 18cms (7ins) high.
