Surmounted by a turned finial above the strapped bell set in four further finials, the sides with pierced and engraved frets, the frame with four turned columns and raised on four ball feet. The 4-inch break-arch brass dial with Turkish numerals and lozenge half-hour markers, the finely matted centre framed by cast brass spandrels, signed on a brass cartouche Thomas Prior, London, No.1526, with blued steel hands (the minute hand a later replacement). The two-train 30-hour movement with external countwheel, powered by a single weight, with verge escapement and short bob pendulum, striking the hours on the bell above. 22cms (8.75ins) high.
