BRADBURY, RAY. B. 1920.

Collection of 31 Letters and Notes Signed (mostly "Ray," some "Ray Bradbury"), most typed, Los Angeles, 1984-2003, to Barry Harrington, on various stationery, some with fantasy illustrations or photocopied cartoons, about fine, many original autograph envelopes.

Extensive correspondence from Ray Bradbury to fellow science-fiction writer, Barry Harrington. Giving news of Bradbury's work in books and film, thanks for correspondence and exchanged books, etc. Includes a 1999 ALS with explanation of Bradbury's reluctance to work with Mel Gibson; a TLS from January 1984 ("Best in 1984. May it be a Harrington, not an Orwell, year!"); some advice to Harrington for his own writing: "you don't need to know the interworking of the industry, as you so badly put it. Interworkings, hell. Industry? Nuts. Write for yourself, as I said above. That's all you have. That's all you'll ever have." In another note: "Novels are dangerous--you spend a lot of time and then what if don't sell?!?! Disaster! Write dozens of short stories! Chances are better to sell!"
