The design, created by Karl Lagerfeld, pays homage to Coco Chanel's fondness for Parisian brasseries. It combines the classic Chanel flap bag design with elements of a French menu, featuring the words 'Menu' and 'Brasserie Gabrielle', with the camellia motif in the centre.
The piece is taken from Chanel's Autumn/ Winter 2015 collection; its runway show saw the Grand Palais reimagined as 'Brasserie Gabrielle', complete with a 360° wooden bar, mosaic tiled floors, red leather booths, handsome waiters, and models walking and interacting with the set.
'It's the daily life of a certain category of people,' Lagerfeld explained after the show. 'This is down-to-earth daily life - in certain circumstances.'
