TWO ZUSHI (PORTABLE SHRINES)
The first in a black-lacquer case with double-hinged doors opening to reveal an Amida Triad, with gilt-wood figures of Amida Nyorai attended by the bodhisattvas Kannon and Seishi, all seated on lotus pedestals, the second with a gilt-wood figure of Senjū Kannon (1000-Armed Kannon) seated on an elevated lotus base above rolling waves and supported by two attendants in the robes of court officials painted in polychrome pigments, enclosed in a tall black-lacquer case with hinged doors (2)

OVERALL CONDITION: The larger shrine- the right hand of the attendant on the right is now lost. There are a few chips and losses to the edges of the waves. One of the crests of the waves has been broken and repaired. The lotus pedestal has been repaired and repainted, The 1000-armed Kannon has lost several arms and several of the attributes in his hands. The crown is slightly best and appears to have lost some of its jewelry. There was possibly a nimbus attached to the back of the deity-- this is now lost. One of the lotus flowers below the dais is loose. Some minor chips and losses to the black-lacquer riser on which the group stands.
The interior of the case with some wear and associated loss to the gilding. The exterior of the case with wear, uneven color and patina of the black lacquer with a few small chips and losses, and oxidation and loss of patina to the hardware.
Smaller shrine- discoloration and surface soiling to the deities and the interior of the case. The exterior with uneven color and patina and a few minor chip and losses along the edges of the roof. Some minor scratches to the interior of the doors. Hardware with oxidation and loss to the patina.
