TWO LACQUER DECORATED BAMBOO ZUNGIRI ("SLICED LID") CHA-IRE (TEA CADDIES)

Taisho (1912-1926) or Showa (1926-1989) era, 20th century
Comprising a cylindrical caddy with straight sides covered in clear lacquer, the flat, slightly overhanging lid with a natural depression in the center, the canted edge lacquered red, the body simply decorated with three leaves in black, textured lacquer, a vertical crack along the body and lid with a kintsugi (gold-lacquer) repair, illegibly signed;
A cylindrical caddy with a flush-fitting lid with a natural depression in the center and with rounded edges, decorated with trailing ivy and gourds above a brush fence in gold takamori-e, inlays of ceramic, and silver and gold hiramaki-e
2 7/8in (7.3cm); 2 3/4in (6.9cm) high (2).
