A French 50-Bore Flintlock Long-Barrelled Turn-Off Pistol
Second Half Of The 17th Century

With two-stage cannon barrel, plain octagonal breech and tang, rounded lock engraved 'A SEDAN' centred on a foliated female demi-figure, rounded cock engraved with a serpent, its tail in its mouth, figured half-stock (pommel with old chipped repair) with apron around the barrel tang and carved at a later date with a triangle on the back of the butt, iron mounts comprising flat side-plate pierced as a foliate scroll, border engraved spurred pommel of flattened ovoidal form with ovoidal cap drawn-out to a blunt point, and trigger-guard with pierced foliate finial
