A French 20-Bore D.B. Silver-Mounted Sporting Gun
By Pirmet A Paris, French Silver Hallmarks For 1798-1809

Reconverted from percussion, with blued barrels decorated with a gilt starburst around the silver fore-sight and with a small lug for a bayonet on the left at the muzzle, the breeches signed and gilt along the rib and flanked by gilt martial trophies, parcel-gilt tang grooved for sighting, signed rounded locks each engraved with a martial trophy on the tail, figured half-stock carved with foliage behind the rear ramrod-pipe, around the barrel tang, and with a basket of foliage in front of the trigger-guard finial, mounts comprising butt-plate engraved with foliage around the shaped border, trigger-guard decorated with a trophy on the bow and with foliage on the tang, faceted rear ramrod-pipe, silver ramrod-pipes and sling loops (some wear overall, ramrod missing)
