An Ottoman Flintlock Silver-Mounted Blunderbuss
19th Century

With two-stage russet damascus twist barrel encrusted with chased silver foliage inhabited by birds at the flared muzzle, mid-section and along the octagonal breech, tang encrusted in silver nasta'liq 'Sayyid Qasim Atayllah', border engraved flat bevelled lock in French taste with spurious signature and decorated with foliage on the tail, pierced engraved cock and steel, butt en suite and with chequered grip carved with a stag's head beneath, mounts cast and chased with trophies and comprising side-plate, butt-plate and trigger-guard, steel side-loop retaining its large suspension clip with swivel, and no provision for a ramrod
