A Pair Of Large Silver-Mounted 16-Bore Flintlock Box-Lock Pistols With Spring Bayonets
Unsigned, Late 18th Century, London Silver Hallmarks, Maker's Mark Of Michael Barnett

With slightly swamped brass barrels and actions in one piece, the former each with folding bayonet beneath with blade of hollow triangular section, the latter each with rounded cock, safety-catch and steel working on an external spring, plain pointed tangs, steel trigger-guards each also forming the bayonet-catch, figured rounded butts (one with old split) each carved with a shell behind the barrel tang, mounts cast and chased with Classical trophies and comprising pierced side-plates, vacant escutcheons and pommel-caps, the latter each within a border of foliate scrolls and against a finely punched ground, brass side-ribs with turned ramrod-pipes, and silver-tipped ramrods, probably original, one with iron worm, Tower private proof marks (2)
