A 25-Bore Flintlock Silver-Mounted Turn-Off Pistol
By Pickfatt, Probably Charles, London, Circa 1740

With two-stage cannon barrel engraved 'London' along the top flat and decorated with foliage at the breech, border engraved tang, border engraved action signed in capitals beneath the steel-spring, swelling butt carved with a shell behind the barrel tang, cast and chased mounts comprising pierced foliate side-plate, vacant escutcheon, and trophy of arms butt-cap, London proof marks and indistinct maker's mark

Charles Pickfatt was made free of the London Gunmakers' Company by patrimony in 1719. He was Contractor to Ordnance between 1727 and 1756 and retired in 1757
