A Scottish 25-Bore Flintlock All-Metal Belt Pistol
By Thomas Caddell Of Doun(sic), Circa 1760

With four-stage barrel flared at the octagonal muzzle and engraved with foliate scrollwork, fluted breech incorporating the notched back-sight, signed border engraved lock decorated with foliage at the tail, cock en suite and with pierced and engraved roundel, three-quarter stock profusely inlaid with chased silver scrollwork and roundels and with four foliate engraved silver panels along the bottom, 'ram's horn' butt en suite and with silver escutcheon on each side engraved 'HL' and 'Oban' respectively, silver button trigger and threaded pricker each engraved as a flower-head, belt-hook en suite with the stock and with terminal pierced and engraved with foliage, silver ramrod-pipe, and original iron ramrod with pierced baluster tip (old wear)
