A Scottish Dirk
19th Century

With tapering double-edged blade (pitted), wooden hilt (basal mount missing) with swelling grip and carved with Celtic knotwork on the outside, circular brass pommel-cap, in original black leather scabbard (rebacked) with brass mounts each engraved with a thistle, the later by-knife and fork each carved with a cross on the wooden grip, and brass chape (soldered repair)
